We are thrilled to announce that Borrowed Time, a short film by NYU Animation alums Andrew Coats (Class of 2004) and Lou Hamou-Lhadj (Class of 2008), has been nominated for Best Animated Short in the 89th Academy Awards. Congratulations to these talented and hard-working storytellers, we are so proud of you!

ANDREW COATS (Class of 2004) and LOU HAMOU-LHADJ (Class of 2008), both currently artists at Pixar Studios, produced after-hours a short film, Borrowed Time, won Best in Show at last year’s 43rd SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival (amongst other honors).  Made over the course of five years, Borrowed Time tells the tale of a weathered sheriff grappling with past mistakes. Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) wrote and performed the film’s music.
